200.jpgProbiotics are good for you, plain and simple. The term “probiotics” is referring to the supplements or foods that can contain good and beneficial bacteria for your body. Your body contains bacteria that are similar to these already.

While you don’t need the microorganisms probiotics to stay healthy, they do provide you with some of the health benefits that the already pre-existing bacteria in your body do. This includes the assistance of digestion, as well as helping protect your body against the harmful kind of bacteria.

Probiotics can be found in supplement form, as well as foods.  These foods can include yogurt, some soy drinks, and unfermented milk. If none of these sound appealing to you, supplements should work well.

Scientists and researches believe that probiotics may be beneficial in the following:

Treating diarrhea
Treating irritable bowel syndrome, commonly called IBS
Preventing the treating inflammation after colon surgery
Shortening the time that intestinal infections last
Preventing eczema in children

Researches think that probiotics may help improve general health as a whole. As an example, a Swedish study performed in 2005 showed that a group of employees given Lacobacillus reuteri (probiotic) missed lessed work than those employees that were given the probiotic.
